What I’m Reading: ‘Silent Footsteps: A Woman’s Awakening Among the Elephants of Africa’ by Sally Henderson.
As you can see, I’ve decided to continue with my theme of women and Mother Nature - my wild side is calling!
Tonight I have rearranged my bookshelves to accommodate my recent purchases (who knew 23 extra books would require so much space?). I have also re-positioned a lamp, so I can comfortably sit on the lounge and read. All in all it’s been a successful Saturday night for this bibliophile!
Now I’m lying in my Spring Hill unit, listening to Andrew Bird play on my iPod speakers and hearing the sounds of passing traffic, sirens in the distance and merry (read drunk) pedestrians making their way to the Valley. All the while reading grand stories of ‘Women in the Wild’ and their Everest ascents, volcano encounters and jungle treks! It’s the closest I’m going to get to the wild for a while, unless you count my urban jungle…
Today I…

Helped some giants rebuild the city of Brisbane

Chose a wish…

…from the wish wall

Decided that slides are far better than stairs

Relaxed by an indoor pool…

…then sat on the bottom of it without getting my hair wet

Discovered birds in a nest of coathangers

Got upclose to an Elephant

Sat by the river in an urban beach chair

And caught a glimpse of the future. All in the one place! 21st Century: Art in the First Decade is on at GOMA until 26 April - I can definitely recommend it!
Client: So I see the venue comes with a wall-mounted plasma screen??
Me: Yes, that’s correct. It’s a 106cm widescreen.
Client: Oh, so how big is that?
Me: *silence*
Client: *silence*
Me: It’s 106cm… 42 inches… Just over a metre… From corner to corner…
Client: *silence*
Me: How about you measure it out so you can visualise it and see if it’s large enough for your requirements…
Client: Oh, good idea!
